For this boy I prayed, and the LORD has given me my petition which I asked of Him. So I have also dedicated him to the LORD; as long as he lives he is dedicated to the LORD ...
1 Samuel 1:27-28 NASB
Child dedication is a moment in which parents make a public commitment before the Lord and their church to raise their child according to God’s Word and His ways. The idea of dedicating a child to the Lord can be found in the Bible in 1 Samuel 1 when Hannah promised to dedicate her child to God if He would give her a son.
Child dedication does not imply salvation but acknowledges that each person is a gift from God and was created by Him for a purpose. At child dedication, parents are declaring that they will raise up their children in the ways of the Lord.
Church of the King requires that the parent(s) presenting the child for dedication must be members of the church at the time of registration. (Please note that membership is acquired by attending Next Steps.)
